April Showers - 春夜喜雨
April 2024
April showers bring May flowers. We have a similar Tang Dynasty poem about spring night rain and newly blossomed flowers - 春夜喜雨. Since our launch in January 2024, we have been received with overwhelming enthusiasm from friends in the Greater New Haven area. Each of our performances have been joyful occasions, and we have had many fans who have been to every one of our performances. We are spending the rainy month of April preparing ourselves to bring flowers of joyful music to our audiences in May. Thank you, fans!
As we continue to work towards our mission of bringing Chinese and Taiwanese music to all corners of Connecticut, your support is so important. We are taking donations to help us purchase more instruments and equipment, maintain instruments, fund professional development and travel. To donate online now, please use this link.
NHCCC is participating in The Great Give 2024, a fundraising campaign created by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven benefiting over 500 nonprofits in Greater New Haven. This campaign spans 36 hours from 8:00 a.m. on May 1 to 8:00 p.m. on May 2, 2024. Your donation through The Great Give can help NHCCC win some cash prizes and may be matched by sponsor(s). Mark your calendar and sign up to donate to NHCCC May 1 - May 2! Of course, you may also become a sponsor for the campaign. Find out how to do so here.
Please be sure to check our website for details about upcoming events:
5/5: We are bringing our spring program to Whitney Center. We are featuring songs about all different kinds of flowers (orchid, jasmine, roses, peach blossoms…).
5/11: We are invited to perform on the big stage at the ArtWalk in Westville. This is an open event, so be sure to come support us in Edgewood Park. We will be adding some songs that feature animals (grasshoppers, roosters, ducks, horses, goldfish…)
5/17: Another outdoor open event that we are very excited about is the New Haven Night Market. A full set about flora and fauna, a drinking song, a percussion battle, we can’t wait!
Finally, we are starting to recruit musicians for the fall, so if you (or someone you know) already play a traditional Chinese instrument, or if you would like to try your hands on a Chinese instrument, please contact us for an audition: admin@newhavenccc.org
